Analysis of tripod supported offshore wind turbines under conditions of marine growth

چکیده

Offshore wind turbines are now a mature technology to produce renewable energy on vast scale, nonetheless several design and maintenance planning challenges remain. There have been attempts investigate the impact of marine growth fixed offshore turbine structures, but only few adopted whole dynamics approach. This work presents methodology capture influence dynamic response tripod substructure, supporting NREL 5 MW reference turbine, under combined loads from waves, including soil-structure interaction by means spring-to-ground model. Marine is modelled as prescribed DNV API, evaluating effects variation its thickness, roughness, distribution. It here demonstrated that thickness roughness significantly acting turbines' structures response, heterogeneity in profiles vs depth available literature lead substantially different results. Tower top displacement becomes 24% higher when grows 0 200 mm. On other hand, changes natural frequencies support structure with an increase growth's almost negligible (0.3%).

Unsteady aerodynamic analysis for offshore floating wind turbines under different wind conditions.

A free-vortex wake (FVW) model is developed in this paper to analyse the unsteady aerodynamic performance of offshore floating wind turbines. A time-marching algorithm of third-order accuracy is applied in the FVW model. Owing to the complex floating platform motions, the blade inflow conditions and the positions of initial points of vortex filaments, which are different from the fixed wind tur...

Optimization of monopiles for offshore wind turbines.

The offshore wind industry currently relies on subsidy schemes to be competitive with fossil-fuel-based energy sources. For the wind industry to survive, it is vital that costs are significantly reduced for future projects. This can be partly achieved by introducing new technologies and partly through optimization of existing technologies and design methods. One of the areas where costs can be ...

Design and Analysis of Jacket Substructures for Offshore Wind Turbines

This study focused on investigating various existing types of offshore jacket substructures along with a proposed twisted-tripod jacket type (modified jacket (MJ)-structures). The architectures of the three-leg structure, as well as the patented twisted jacket structure motivated the design of the proposed MJ-structures. The dimensions of the structures were designed iteratively using static st...
